Landscape pavers come in a large variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and finishes. You are sure to find a combination that will meet your taste and paving needs. Pavers are extremely durable. Standard size pavers will take years of vehicular traffic with no noticeable wear.

Concrete paving stones are very resistant to damage from frost heave that often damages concrete or asphalt pavement. Unfortunately concrete, even colored and stamped concrete does not have this flexibility. If a paving stone happens to crack, repair is easy, especially when compared to repairing cracked concrete. It is as simple as lifting out the cracked paver and putting in a new one.

MAINTENANCE TIP: KEEPING WEEDS AND MOSS OFF YOUR PATIO
Weeds and moss are plants that are growing at an inconvenient place. There is no such thing as a weed-free surface. If detritus is allowed to accumulate on a surface, it will only be a matter of time before some weed or other decides to rear its ugly head. Taking proper care of a paver surface requires some attention.

  • Pull, spray or scrape off weeds that have grown in the joints, replacing any sand that is pulled up with weeds.
  • Regular brushing disturbs newly emerging weeds and gets them before they are fully rooted.
  • Regularly scrub your pavers with hot soapy water. Be sure to use acid-free soap-based solutions or you can do serious damage to your paver surface.
  • Regular powerwashing removes surface debris and weeds before they have a chance to grow. Be sure to refill the stabilizing sand between pavers. And be careful not to damage bricks with the powerwasher.
  • A good quality sealant can deter the growth of most weeds as long as you perform regular basic maintenance discussed above.
  • Weed killers can be very effective but must be used with care and directions followed carefully.
  • Moss killers can work, but do not use moss killers with ferrous oxide or they will turn your pavers orange.
